The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of copies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
The person using the Media Creation Room's equipment is liable for any copyright infringement.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a person makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This Library reserves the right to refuse to make any copy if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the request would involve violation of copyright law.
For more information about copyright law, the rights of copyright owners, and the right of fair use to make limited copies for teaching, research, and study at the University, please contact the Director of Libraries, who serves as the Federal DMCA agent for Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
